Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Wirepilot, the browser-based electrical CAD service available at wirepilot.io and app.wirepilot.io ("the Service"), operated by Matthias Wolf, Tölzer Str. 5a, 81379 München, Germany ("we", "us") — full provider identification in the imprint. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Wirepilot is a software-as-a-service application for drawing, checking, and documenting electrical schematics in the browser: IEC/NFPA symbol libraries, deterministic wire numbering and device tagging, electrical rule checks, AI-assisted drawing and review, and exports including PDF, CSV, DXF, and the open .wirepilot format. The concrete feature set of each plan is described on the pricing page and may evolve over time.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use the Service. You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that company to these Terms.

3. Plans, trial, and billing

  • Free plan. The free plan is available without payment details and may be limited in projects, pages, and AI actions as described on the pricing page.
  • Trial. First-time subscribers get a 14-day trial of the plan they choose. A payment method is collected at checkout but you are not charged until the trial ends — cancel before then and you pay nothing, and your account falls back to the free plan.
  • Paid subscriptions are billed per user, monthly or yearly, in advance, at the prices shown at checkout in the supported currencies. Purchases are made through our merchant of record, Polar, which handles payment, invoicing, and VAT.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time via the Polar customer portal (reachable from the in-app account menu). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; statutory withdrawal rights for consumers remain unaffected.
  • Price changes apply from the next billing period and will be announced in advance; if you do not agree, you can cancel before they take effect.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in violation of applicable law or third-party rights;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' data, or our infrastructure, or to probe, scan, or test its vulnerability without authorization;
  • resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service bureau without our written consent;
  • abuse metered features (such as AI actions) through automated bulk use intended to circumvent plan limits;
  • upload malicious code or content you have no right to use.

5. Your content

You own your schematics and projects. We claim no intellectual property rights in the content you create or upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, transmit, and display that content solely to the extent necessary to operate and provide the Service — including making it available to you and producing the exports you request. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to statutory retention duties and routine backups.

6. Open file format

The .wirepilot file format specification is openly documented and licensed under CC BY 4.0. You can export your projects in this format on every plan, at any time. Your data is not locked in.

7. AI features

AI features run only when you invoke them and send the relevant schematic content to the configured AI provider (see the Privacy Policy). AI output is generated by statistical models and may be incorrect or incomplete. Every AI proposal must be reviewed by you before it is applied, and it remains your work product once applied.

8. Engineering responsibility

Wirepilot is a documentation and design tool — not an engineering service. Nothing in the Service, including its electrical rule checks and AI features, constitutes engineering advice, a design verification, or a certification of compliance.

You remain solely responsible for verifying every design against the electrical codes and standards applicable to your project (IEC, NFPA, and local regulations), for the correctness, safety, and fitness for purpose of your designs, and for having your work reviewed and approved by qualified professionals where required by law or good engineering practice.

9. Availability

We operate the Service with commercially reasonable care but self-serve plans carry no service-level agreement and no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Maintenance windows, updates, and factors outside our control can cause temporary unavailability.

10. Limitation of liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper execution of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you regularly rely), and in that case limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability is excluded. This does not shift the burden of proof to your disadvantage.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these Terms — in particular of Section 4 — after notice where practicable. Upon termination, Sections 5 (as to the wind-down of the license), 8, 10, and 13 survive. Export your projects before deletion; we may permanently delete your content after your account is closed.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may amend these Terms for good cause — such as changes in law, new features, or changes to our service model. We will announce material changes at least 30 days in advance in the Service or by email. If you do not object before they take effect, or continue using the Service after that date, the amended Terms apply; we will point this consequence out in the announcement.

13. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, the exclusive venue is Munich. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
